Heartbreak and Magic, 2024

Heartbreak and Magic uses VR glasses to immerse us in a cosmic quantum world where we are guided through a multi-layered landscape and universe. In this work, Heaney processes her own experiences with grief and sudden loss and invites us to reflect on what quantum physics can teach us about life and death. What does existence mean in a world where there is no linear concept of time and both the future and the past exist concurrently? With unreserved openness, Heaney allows us to share in her own pain while also succeeding in conveying a transcendent experience through the «magical» perspective of quantum reality. Even beyond death, she provides a comforting connection to the metaphysical world, which is in a state of constant transformation and fluctuation.
